Nicholas Haan

Nicholas Haan is the Faculty Chair of Global Grand Challenges at Singularity University (SU). He oversees the impact curriculum, faculty coordination, and team project innovation processes; and regularly speaks in international forums on solving humanity's grand challenges. He is also the SU Managing Director of Impact Partnerships and forms collaborations with UN, NGO, and other organizations. Previous to SU he was a food security analyst for the United Nations where he created an international standard for classifying disasters/food insecurity. He has also worked in the areas of education, environment, and health. Nick has lived and worked for over 20 years in East and Southern Africa and has worked at community, national, and global levels; and brings a multi-disciplinary systems perspective to complex challenges.  He is an entrepreneur and founder of startups, Field Ready and Global Good Brokerage.  He was a NASA Research Fellow and has a Ph.D. in Geography, MA in International Development, MA in Remote Sensing, and a BS in Genetics.
